Two men apprehended, believed to have connections to shooting in the vicinity of Tennessee State University


Two suspects, Marquez Davis and DeAnthony Brown, were arrested after a shooting near Tennessee State University that left one person dead and several injured. The suspects are facing criminal homicide charges and are believed to be involved in the exchange of gunfire that led to the death of Vonquae Johnson. Five people, including the two suspects, are suspected to have been involved in the shooting that occurred after the university’s homecoming celebration. Five suspects are believed to have participated, with one being killed and two wounded and taken to the hospital.

Police Chief John Drake condemned the shooters for putting innocent people, including children, in danger and emphasized the need for severe consequences for violent gun crimes. It was revealed that one of the arrested suspects, Davis, had prior convictions for robbery, gun possession, and drug possession. Despite the violence, none of the victims’ injuries were considered critical, with a 12-year-old girl and two 14-year-old girls among those injured.

The shooting took place after the homecoming parade when two opposing groups began exchanging gunfire. The suspects were arrested at a short-term rental in Nashville, and both men had significant involvement in the criminal justice system. The incident was described as endangering innocent lives and emphasized the seriousness of violent crimes.
