Numerous tombs discovered at film location in Jordan that resembles ‘Indiana Jones’

Archaeologists made a significant discovery at a historic site in Jordan that resembled a theme from the “Indiana Jones” movies. Deep within the Treasury monument in Petra, a secret tomb containing the remains of at least a dozen Nabateans was unearthed, a finding described as historic. The discovery sheds light on the purpose of the Treasury and the lives of the early Nabataeans who built Petra. The site was found to be a mausoleum rather than a treasury, as previously thought.

The excavation also uncovered an artifact, a ceramic vessel resembling the Holy Grail prop from the “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” movie. The discovery of the chalice held by a skeleton added an extra layer of intrigue to the excavation, drawing parallels between real life and fiction.

The revelation of the tomb and the artifact sparked excitement among the archaeologists and host Josh Gates, who described the discovery as shocking and significant. The expedition was documented in a two-part episode of “Expeditions Unknown” that aired on Discovery+ and delved into the mysteries of the site and its findings. The episode provides viewers with an opportunity to witness the excavation firsthand and learn more about the ancient Nabataean civilization and their customs.
