The woman had been feeding the raccoons on her property for over 38 years, but recently noticed a significant increase in their numbers and aggressiveness. When she called 911 for help, deputies arrived and were able to escort her safely out of the property. The woman was referred to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife’s wildlife control operators program, which connects residents with certified trappers to handle small animals. It is advised against feeding wildlife as it can lead to health issues, loss of caution around people, and attracting predators. The fate of the raccoons in this situation is not known.
