Lebanon Man Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder After Shooting Spree
Last week, a jury deliberated for an hour before convicting Lebanon man Jouse Ortiz-Serrano, 21, of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 32-year-old Jean Carlos Alvarado Rosado more than two years ago. The incident occurred on Feb. 23, 2022, on the 300 block of North Eighth Street in Lebanon.
Ortiz-Serrano was found guilty of brutally murdering Alvarado Rosado by firing 20 shots, with 12 hitting the victim, ten of which were fired from behind. Following the shooting, Ortiz-Serrano proceeded to beat Alvarado Rosado in the head and face with the gun until it broke apart. Pieces of the weapon were found beneath Alvarado Rosado’s body and in his clothes.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, as both the shooter and victim were residents of the city. Lebanon County District Attorney’s Office First Assistant District Attorney Brian Deiderick expressed the community’s growing frustration with senseless gun violence and praised residents for their cooperation in bringing justice in this case.
Ortiz-Serrano is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 27 in front of Judge Bradford H. Charles and faces an automatic life sentence in prison due to the first-degree murder conviction. This verdict serves as a clear message that the community will not tolerate such violence on its streets.
