Trump warns of legal action against Google, accusing search engine of favoring Harris

Former President Donald Trump has stated that if he wins the 2024 presidential election, he plans to ask the Justice Department to prosecute Google for allegedly promoting negative stories about him and positive stories about Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump’s claims were made on his Truth Social account, accusing Google of illegal activity in favoring Harris over him. The former president threatened prosecution if the Justice Department does not take action.

Trump may have been referencing a study conducted by the conservative group Media Research Center, which found that Google search results favored Harris over Trump. However, Google denied these claims, stating that the study had limitations and that search results are based on constantly changing news articles.

This threat from Trump is part of a pattern of him using the power of the federal government to punish his perceived enemies, as he has threatened to prosecute several rivals in the past. During his presidency, Trump reportedly asked his attorney general to investigate and prosecute Hillary Clinton and other political adversaries.

Despite facing legal challenges himself, including an indictment related to election interference, Trump’s advisors have indicated that he would prioritize personal loyalty and commitment to his agenda when choosing appointees for his administration if he were to win the 2024 election.
