Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to carry out long-range strikes inside Russia with US-supplied weapons to end the ongoing war. Zelenskyy is set to present a “victory plan” during his trip to the US, which includes addressing the UN and meeting with Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris. The Ukrainian president is seeking support from western allies to provide necessary weapons and permission to use them against Russian forces in Donetsk and targets inside Russia. Ukraine’s foreign minister has warned of potential strikes on Ukrainian nuclear facilities before winter and urged the UN to establish permanent monitoring missions at these sites. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have demonstrated their capability to strike deep inside Russia, destroying two Russian munitions depots. In response, Russian forces have targeted civilian areas in Ukraine, causing casualties and damage. The escalating conflict has raised tensions in the region, with Iran unveiling new ballistic missiles and drones amid allegations of supplying weapons to Russia. Russia has rejected participating in any follow-up to previous peace talks organized without its involvement. The situation remains volatile as both sides continue to engage in military action.
