Marcee Gray, the mother of a Georgia teenager charged with a fatal school shooting, has been indicted in connection with an alleged domestic incident last year. The charges include exploiting an elderly person and other crimes in Ben Hill County, unrelated to the school shootings that took place at Apalachee High School. Her son, Colt Gray, was charged with murder after opening fire at the school, killing four people and injuring nine others.
The indictment against Marcee Gray stems from an incident late last year where she reportedly bound her 74-year-old mother to a chair and left her for nearly a full day before traveling to confront her ex-husband. She was subsequently arrested in Barrow County and sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to multiple charges.
Messages left for Marcee Gray were not immediately returned, and it is unclear if she has legal representation. She previously stated that she called the high school the morning of the shootings to warn staff after her son sent her a troubling text message. Both Marcee and Colin Gray, the teenager’s father, have faced legal consequences in connection to the tragic school shooting. Colin Gray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and cruelty to children for giving his son access to the rifle used in the shootings.
