Twenty-one wickets fell on the first day of the crucial match between Somerset and Lancashire at Old Trafford in Division One of the cricket championship. Nottinghamshire, led by Ben Slater’s 160, took a giant stride towards safety against Kent.
In Division Two, Sussex dominated against Gloucestershire, bowling them out for 109. Toby Roland-Jones helped Middlesex put pressure on Yorkshire in the promotion chase. George Hill’s 90 helped Yorkshire to a total of 361 against Glamorgan.
