Former Vice President Mike Pence, who previously served under President Donald Trump and had his own unsuccessful bid for the Republican presidential nomination, has started teaching political science at conservative Grove City College in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Pence, along with Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty, taught his first class on Thursday, and may participate via video conference in the future depending on his schedule. Pence mentioned his wife Karen warned him that teaching is harder than it looks, and asked students to be patient with him as he begins his lectures.
Pence expressed excitement about his role at Grove City College, stating that he has immense respect for the mission of the institution and looks forward to teaching future Christian leaders. The college, which does not accept federal funding, has named Pence as its first Distinguished Fellow for Faith and Public Life as part of the newly established Center for Faith & Public Life.
Despite his previous role in the Trump administration and the fallout following the 2020 election certification, Pence received a warm welcome from students during his visit to the campus. Pence expressed his appreciation for the graciousness of the student body and the warm reception he received from students of all backgrounds. Overall, Pence is settling into his new role at Grove City College and is looking forward to shaping future leaders in the political arena.
