The Azov Brigade of Ukraine has reported that they have stabilized the situation in Niu-York in Donetsk Oblast, retaking part of the settlement from Russian forces amid ongoing fighting. The brigade stated that thanks to their fighters’ morale, courage, and professionalism, they were able to regain control of part of Niu-York and unblock the Defense Forces that were surrounded by enemy troops. Despite Russian claims of capturing Niu-York, the Azov Brigade has maintained that Ukrainian forces still hold their positions in the region.
In a related development, a Russian airstrike on civilian infrastructure in Pavlohrad resulted in one death and dozens of injuries, including three children. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to Germany to discuss Ukraine’s need for long-range weapons with US and European partners, as well as seeking permission to use weapons supplied in military aid packages to strike deeper into Russian territory.
Additionally, Russian shelling in the Sumy region sparked a wildfire in a border settlement, which spread across four hectares before being extinguished by firefighters. Shostka, another settlement near the city, was also targeted by Russian shelling, resulting in a fire in a residential building that was eventually put out. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate, with both sides engaging in intense fighting and airstrikes on civilian areas.
