Rosanna King, a survivor of the 2006 mass shooting at West Nickel Mines School in Bart Township, passed away at the age of 23 in her Paradise Township home. King was one of five girls who survived the tragic event when a gunman took 10 girls hostage, ultimately killing five, including himself. Despite suffering severe brain trauma, King miraculously survived but was left unable to walk or talk and experienced severe seizures.
After the shooting, the Amish community publicly forgave the shooter’s family, with the shooter’s mother Terri Roberts visiting King weekly to offer comfort and read to her. King’s family, known for their dedication to caring for her, portrayed a message of acceptance and faith in the face of tragedy.
