The National Weather Service issued an updated flood advisory for Allegheny, Beaver, and Butler counties due to excessive rainfall on Saturday night, urging residents to be cautious of water over roadways and minor flooding in low-lying areas. Different weather alerts were explained, including flash flood warnings where immediate action is required, flood warnings where flooding is imminent, flood advisories where flooding is not expected to be severe, and flood watches where conditions are favorable for flooding.
In order to stay safe during floods, residents were advised to seek higher ground, adhere to evacuation orders, disconnect utilities and appliances, avoid basements, and never walk through floodwaters. The weather service also provided guidelines for driving in heavy rain, including maintaining safe distances, driving slowly, choosing the middle lanes, enhancing visibility, watching out for slippery roads, keeping a safe distance from large vehicles, and ensuring proper windshield wiper maintenance.
United Robots’ Advance Local Weather Alerts service utilizes machine learning to gather updated data from the National Weather Service, providing timely and accurate information to residents. In the face of heavy rain and potential flooding, it is crucial for individuals to stay informed, follow guidance from local authorities, and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety both at home and on the road.
