A small airplane crashed into a residential neighborhood in Fairview, Oregon on Saturday morning. The plane was identified as a twin-engine Cessna 421C and went down near the Troutdale Airport at around 10:30 a.m. The Federal Aviation Administration is unsure of how many people were on board at the time of the crash. Video footage shared on social media depicted residential buildings engulfed in flames and a large plume of smoke rising from the crash site. Local and federal authorities responded to the scene, including the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. The exact cause of the crash is currently unknown. The crash occurred approximately 15 miles from downtown Portland. Further investigations and assessments are underway to determine the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident.
