Former President Donald Trump made headlines on Friday during a Fox News interview where he revealed he would vote against a Florida amendment that would enshrine abortion rights in the state’s constitution and overturn a six-week abortion ban. Trump cited concerns over the six-week window being too short, but also criticized the Democrats for supporting nine-month abortions, labeling them as radical. The amendment aims to ensure access to abortion care before fetal viability around the 24th week and includes exceptions for maternal health.
Trump’s comments came during a rally in Pennsylvania, where he reiterated his call for death sentences for drug dealers and criticized the media while spouting derogatory nicknames for his opponents. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris held her first solo campaign event and responded to Trump’s statement supporting IVF care by accusing him of lying.
Trump also addressed a recent altercation at Arlington cemetery involving his campaign staff, claiming he posed for pictures with families who asked him to, despite regulations against political campaign activities at the cemetery. The incident led to security apprehending a man at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally after he attempted to climb over a fence.
Throughout his rally in Pennsylvania, Trump touched on various topics including immigration, media attacks, and his future plans if he were in charge of other countries. His rally was followed by a national summit in Washington with Moms for Liberty, a conservative organization advocating for the removal of LGBTQ+ mentions and structural racism from schools.
