Police confirm Dallas PD officer killed, and 2 officers wounded in Oak Cliff shooting

A police officer in Dallas was killed, and two others were injured in a shooting on Thursday night. The incident occurred in the Oak Cliff area after a report of an officer in distress. Responding officers found one officer with gunshot wounds in his patrol car, and two additional officers were also hit during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect. One officer died from his injuries, another is in stable condition, and a third is in critical condition.

The identities of the suspects and officers involved have not been released to the public. The suspect fled the scene, leading to a high-speed pursuit that ended in Lewisville, where the suspect was shot and killed by Dallas police officers.

Dallas Police Communications Director Kristin Lowman stated that the suspect had a long gun when he exited the vehicle in Lewisville. Investigations are ongoing in both Dallas and Lewisville.

Dallas PD Chief Eddie Garcia expressed sadness and asked for thoughts and prayers for the injured officers and the family of the fallen officer. The department is grieving the loss of one of their own and is working to support those affected by the shooting.
