Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has announced its official transition team in preparation for a potential second administration. Former Trump administration official Linda McMahon and businessman Howard Lutnick are co-chairs of the team, which is required by law for major presidential candidates. The team will focus on preparing for assuming the presidency and easing any handoff in power should Trump win the November election.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who will accept the Democratic presidential nomination, will also appoint a transition team. Trump’s team will be led by McMahon and Lutnick, with honorary co-chairs including vice presidential nominee JD Vance and Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
Trump’s transition team is focused on implementing an agenda that includes tax cuts, mass deportations of migrants, expanding the U.S. energy industry, and increasing White House control over government employees. Trump has also talked about using the Justice Department to target political opponents.
Harris and aides have criticized Trump’s plans, accusing him of wanting an authoritarian-style government and working to end abortion rights and reduce healthcare access. After a recent news conference, Harris campaign spokesperson James Singer expressed skepticism about Trump’s promises, stating that “The American people cannot trust a word Donald Trump says.”
