Former top prosecutor in Lancaster County District Attorney’s office, Christine Leigh Wilson, has been charged with a hit-and-run that occurred in May. Wilson, 49, was driving her BMW SUV when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle, then left the scene without exchanging information. She has been charged with a third-degree misdemeanor and a stop sign violation.
Wilson resigned from her position unexpectedly a week after the incident and is being prosecuted by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office due to a conflict of interest with the county DA’s office. Wilson had a successful career as a prosecutor, being involved in high-profile cases such as the DJ Freez murder and the Lindy Sue Biechler cold case.
Despite the charges, Wilson’s attorney Jack McMahon stated that she was not involved in alcohol and no one was injured in the incident. Wilson, who wanted to be a lawyer from a young age, served the residents of Lancaster County for 20 years before resigning from her position.
Wilson ran for a district judge seat in 2023 but lost to a Democrat. Her upcoming trial for the hit-and-run incident is scheduled for October. Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams accepted Wilson’s resignation, acknowledging the impact of her work on the community. The case sheds light on the importance of accountability and the responsibility of law enforcement officials to uphold the law.
