A Chinese citizen named Zijie Li was arrested for repeatedly attempting to enter former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, claiming to have documents linking China to an assassination attempt on Trump. Li faces a misdemeanor trespassing charge and remains in jail on a $3,000 bond. This incident is the first security-related arrest at Mar-a-Lago since a shooting incident in July. Li first tried to enter the property on July 19 and was warned by police not to return. Despite this, he returned multiple times and was eventually arrested on July 30. The Secret Service has increased security around Trump’s properties since the shooting incident. Li is not the first Chinese citizen to face charges for attempting to enter Mar-a-Lago, as a woman was arrested in 2019 for lying to gain access to the club. The Secret Service thanked the town and Palm Beach County for their support in safeguarding the former President. Li’s case is currently under investigation by the police.
