Former Pennsylvania nurse, Heather Pressdee, has been sentenced to life after pleading guilty to killing and attempting to kill multiple patients with lethal doses of insulin. Pressdee, 41, was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences for three counts of first-degree murder and 19 counts of criminal attempt to commit murder.
Pressdee admitted to administering lethal and potentially lethal doses of insulin to 22 patients at facilities in various counties in Pennsylvania, beginning in 2020. The victims ranged in age from 43 to 104. The judge also sentenced Pressdee to 380 to 760 years of consecutive incarceration for the additional charges.
Attorney General Michelle Henry stated that Pressdee used her position of trust to poison patients who depended on her for care. The plea and life sentence aim to prevent Pressdee from causing further harm. Family members of the victims spoke out during the hearing, calling Pressdee “pure evil” and expressing a desire for justice.
Pressdee had previously worked as a registered nurse at multiple facilities, with a history of disciplinary issues related to abusive behavior toward patients and staff. Authorities identified a pattern of misconduct leading to her resigning or being terminated from 11 facilities since 2018.
The case has garnered significant attention for the deliberate and malicious actions of the former nurse, resulting in multiple charges of murder and attempted murder. It serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers within healthcare settings and the importance of maintaining trust and integrity in patient care.
