One half of renowned 1980s rap duo passes away at 63


DJ Polo, also known as Thomas Pough, a member of the Juice Crew and one-half of the duo Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, passed away at the age of 63. His death was announced by one of his children on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from fans. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Kool G Rap also paid tribute to his friend on social media, calling DJ Polo a legend in hip-hop and Juice Crew history. The duo released three albums together and were part of the iconic Juice Crew collective, which included other notable artists like MC Shan, Biz Markie, and Big Daddy Kane.

In addition to his work with Kool G Rap, DJ Polo released a solo album titled “Polo’s Playhouse” in 1998. The news of his passing prompted an outpouring of condolences from the hip-hop community, with Eric B among those offering his respects.
