Local politicians propose the “Let America Vote Act of 2024” to advocate for election reform and integrity

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) has joined forces with Representatives Jared Golden (ME-2), Andrew Garbarino (NY-2), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-3) to introduce the bipartisan Let America Vote Act of 2024. This legislation aims to protect election integrity by ensuring the right to vote for U.S. citizens in taxpayer-funded elections and prohibiting non-citizens from voting.

The Let America Vote Act of 2024 also focuses on granting access to unaffiliated voters in primary elections for federal, state, and local office, withholding federal funds from states that do not comply. The bill aims to protect the information and independence of unaffiliated voters by restricting the use of their data.

Congressman Fitzpatrick emphasized the importance of restoring trust in the electoral process, stating that every citizen deserves to have their voice heard through voting. Other representatives echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of ensuring that the right to vote is reserved for American citizens.

Supporters of the Let America Vote Act, including organizations like With Honor Action and No Labels, believe that opening primaries to independent and unaffiliated voters will bring more competition to elections and reduce the influence of extremists. They see the Act as a significant expansion of voting rights, allowing millions of Americans to fully exercise their right to vote.

Overall, the Let America Vote Act of 2024 is seen as a crucial step forward in ensuring that all citizens have the opportunity to participate in the democratic process and have their voices heard.
