A claim circulating on Instagram suggested that footage from the Republican National Convention showed former President Donald Trump wearing a bandage on the wrong ear. The post insinuated that Trump’s supporters were making excuses for him, but the footage was altered to make it appear as if he had the bandage on the left ear when he actually had it on the right, the ear that was injured in an assassination attempt. Videos and photos from the convention clearly show Trump wearing the bandage on his right ear throughout the event. The Instagram video in question was mirrored, as indicated by the backwards letters and signs in the background. Various news outlets have confirmed that Trump wore the bandage on the correct ear during the convention. The original footage, broadcast by C-SPAN, clearly shows the bandage on Trump’s right ear. The claim was debunked by Lead Stories as well. Despite the circulation of this altered video on social media platforms, the fact remains that Trump wore the bandage on the correct ear at the Republican National Convention following the assassination attempt.
